Overview

Mera Peak Climbing is a mountain in a Mahalangur section where Barun sub-section of the Himalayan and administratively in Nepal Sagarmatha zone. It takes us to submit to (6,461 M/21,190 FT). Mera Peak is the highest climbing peak in Nepal. Nepal Trekking is the best part of Nepal whereas trekking to the peak mainly treks by the sudden people. The view from the summit is one of the finest Himalayas with five different peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga as well as other Himalaya Peaks. For the experienced climber, the Mera Peak is technically straight forward ascended and the main hurdle being proper acclimatization to the high altitude.

Mera Peak offers a panoramic view of Chamlang, Kangchenjunga, Makalu and Baruntse in the east and the Peaks of Cho-Oyu, Ama Dablam and Kangtega to the west.

The trip of Mera peak climb begins with the Kathmandu valley through the Lukla where we arrive through and we will have a beautiful journey. Our Global treks make itinerary of 17 days trekking for Mera Peak Climbing where you will be flying to Lukla and start your trek from Paiya. You will admire the incredible view of the Himalayas range and much more beautiful nature. You will be walking through the hills and glaciers which capture the panoramic moments of the site. Mera peak climbing is very famous in Nepal as well as it is a good opportunity to experience Nature. By following the beautiful trail you will end your trek at the Lukla. After all again you will be back in Kathmandu.

Breakfast Kathmandu Hotel


Our representative guide will meet you at the airport after that you will be taken to the hotel where you prefer to stay. Some hours will give you for the rest and then in the hotel, guide will briefing about the activities and the equipment you needed in the Mera Peak. Overnight in Guest House.

After breakfast, we will conduct a guided tour and introduction to our rich culture and fascinating history. You will visit with our guide of these places Swoyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Patan Durbar square.


50 min Fly/5-6 hrs Trek B/L/D Lukla Hotel


In the morning you will receive the wakeup call from our Global treks & Expeditions Guide. You will catch an early morning flight to Lukla at Tenzing Hillary airport after that you will begin your treks to Paiya by seeing the beautiful scenery. From this point, your trek will start for the Mera Peak. Overnight in Guest house.


5-6 hrs Trek B/L/D Pangkongma Guesthouse


We will walk early in the morning after our trek will start and we will reach small bridges. The way is very difficult and slippery up to the Kari La Pass, between your trekking period you will enjoy the walking with the Bamboo forest on a narrow mountain. After all, you will reach the Pangkongma. Overnight in Guest House.


4-5 hrs Trek B/L/D Nashing Dingma Guesthouse


We walk towards to start our trekking by passing the Pangkongma La Pass, walking a long time we will reach to Shibuche after all you will take some rest and you will again continue your trekking. You will be walking a downhill path where you will be passing through the bridge over the Hinku Khola. Our Trekking team will get the opportunity to see the Gai Kharka and grazing area. Finally, you will reach Nashing Dingma. Overnight in Guest House.


7-8 hrs Trek B/L/D Chhatra Khola Guesthouse


Early in the morning, your trekking will start to Chhatra Khola bypassing the way Danda Kharka, Phokte village, Chalem Kharka etc. by ascending the downhill’s and cross the way of Surkie La Pass. You will cross through the Bamboo forests, medicinal plants which is essential for you. After walking an hour you will reach the Panch Pokhari. At the last, you will reach the Chhatra Khola. Overnight in Guest House.


6-7 hrs Treks B/L/D Kothe Guesthouse


Again you will start your trekking to Kothe through the path of the Majang Khola and the trail alongside through the Hinku Khola. On the way to Kothe, your journey will be more enjoyable and better, on the trail the straight ahead towards Tashing Ongma where there is a seasonal tea shop for, especially foreigner. Then we will reach Kothe. Overnight in Guest House.


3-4 hrs Trek B/L/D Thaknak Guesthouse


Your trek will begin at the early sunset to the Hinku Khola to the trail of the Mera Peak. Although your journey will continue with the bank of the Hinku Drangka. On the way, there is a Gondishung, the summer herders. You can see there 200-year-old Gompa where we can find Mera Peak script in rock and after an hour we will reach to Thaknak. Overnight in Guest House.


2-3 hrs Treks B/L/D Khare Guesthouse


After all our morning trekking will start from the Thaknak. The way is very beautiful and the weather is very amazing. From that way, we can see the North face of the Mera Peak and you will walk through the lateral marine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka. The weather was so good so this is the last stop where you go to the high camp. Overnight in Guest House.


B/L/D Khare Guesthouse


Today you will take some rest in Khare and your guide will provide you with some training for the Mera Peak where it is also as it is the second king day of the trekking trips. They will inform you about the technique and the instruments of it. You will get more opportunity to see the Himalayan range of Mt.Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt.Ama Dablam etc. Overnight in Guest House.


4-5 hrs Treks B/L/D Mera Base Camp


Today is the day where you will reach your final destination. You all need to climb the glacier so its little bit hard for you all. In this place, there is more dangerous because there will be the rock fall so you all are provided to wear a helmet. The descent from the glacier to the campsite is short. After you walk between the glacier part we will get the opportunity to see other peaks and mountain like Mera peak, Mt.Everest, Mt. Lhotse etc. Overnight in Guest House.


8-9 hrs Trek B/L/D Khare Guesthouse


Finally, you will be ready for the High Mera Peak Point. Our Global treks Guide will provide you with all the required instrument so you can be safe in any difficult way and by reaching in High Camp. You will be paralyzed with the panorama view of beautiful mountains ranges and you can capture the more views of the mountain. Where you can take lots of pictures, after all, you will return back to Khare. Overnight in Guest House.


4-5 hrs Treks B/L/D Kothe Guesthouse


After it, you will be back to Kothe from the same way where you will be following the same routes to be back. Your journey from there will be more interesting. Overnight in Guest house.


6-7 hrs Treks B/L/D Thuli Kharka Guesthouse


Walking on the bank of Hinku Khola, you will pass through the Thuli Kharka. After you will enjoy your trips with the beautiful rhododendron as the entire forest. You will move to the north of Thuli Kharka and you can enjoy the incredible view of the Mera Peak. Overnight in Guest House.


7-8hrs B/L/D Lukla Guesthouse


Today we will trek downwards to the Lukla where there is the beautiful Lukla valley across the pass. You will walk through the Zatrwa La Pass and you will follow the track of Dudh Koshi River which the region of the Sagarmatha National Park. Then we will reach to the Lukla. Overnight in Guest House.

Early in the morning, we will be back to the Kathmandu in flight. Above the flight, you will see the Himalayan ranges and beautiful scenery. After you reach to Kathmandu you will get some time to visit Thamel area which is most attractive for the foreigner where you can have shopping and all. Overnight in Guest House.

Essential Information

The following gives you a general idea of the personal items that you can bring for the trek. The personal items as your individual interest, and choice. In a supported trek, heavy items are carried by porters or yaks and personal belongings that you may need for the day like money, camera, sun cream, water bottle, rain gear, and toilet paper etc. should be carried by yourself. So you are briefed to pack items in two different bags. The most important fact that one should keep on mind is that one should have enough clothes to tackle the cold weather in the mountain range.

(Note : We will supply complimentary water and wind proof duffel bag which you can use on the trek and is carried by porter/s. The duffel bag is yours to keep after the trek. You can leave your bag with your non-trek items at the hotel in Kathmandu and collect them after the trek)

Upper Body – Head / Ears / Eyes

Shade hat or baseball cap – of their head and then put a baseball cap on to hold it in place. This can be a flexible alternative while keeping the sun off your ears and neck.
Warm wool or synthetic hat that covers your ears.
Glacier glasses-100% UV protection with side shields and a hard-sided storage case (i.e. Julbo or Cebe). Regular sunglasses are not sufficient. If you wear prescription glasses, speak to your doctor about prescription glacier glasses, perhaps with transitional lenses. This is to protect your eyes from the rays of the sun due to the thinner atmosphere which can cause a painful condition known as snow blindness.
A neck warmer is another piece of gear for extra warmth if you feel you will need it .
Headlamp – Black Diamond and Petzl both make several good ones. Make sure to bring extra batteries and that they are lithium batteries so that they will last in the colder temperatures. These are indispensable for getting around at night, reading, etc.
Balaclava – lightweight, thinner variety
Some people like ear-muffs; these are optional; a good hat, balaclava, and hooded jacket should really be sufficient, but this is a personal choice for some people .

Hand

1 pair liner gloves, thin wool or synthetic, useful alone a days or as a layer inside other gloves / mitts for additional warmth.
1 pair warm gloves (heavier fleece or wool).
1 pair shell gloves or mitts; Gore-Tex is preferred for keeping hands dry.
Instant hand warmers are always nice in a pinch, but really shouldn’t be necessary on the trek. Bringing appropriate hand protection as recommended above, should be sufficient (optional).

Lower Body – Legs

1 pair soft shell pants – synthetic, full zip from top and bottom preferable.
2 pairs trekking pants, the knees so they double as shorts.
1 pair hard shell pants. Waterproof / breathable, Gore-Tex or equivalent is best. Should zip from the top and bottom – this makes it easier to put on over boots without getting undressed should the weather change once you are underway for the day.
1 pair cotton pants (loose jeans/khakis).
2 pairs lightweight long underwear – capilene or other synthetic.
All clothing should be kept dry using waterproof stuff sacks or large puncture resistant plastic bags.

Feet

4/5 pairs of liner socks, synthetic or capilene.
3/4 pairs heavy weight socks to be worn over liner socks.
1 pair light weight socks, a good option for the lower / warmer parts of the treks.
1 pair light to medium weight water proof hiking/trekking boots.
1 pair light trekking shoes or sneakers. Good for around the camp/lodges and in Kathmandu.
1 pair hiking gaiters, good for keeping dust and rocks out of your shoes / boots as well as keep your feet dry as necessary (Optional).
1 pair sandals (Optional).

Medicines and First Aid Kits

(Please note WT guide will also carry the first aid kit bag during the trek. However we still recommend you to bring your personal first aid kit as well)

Extra Strength Excedrin for altitude related headaches.
Buprofen for general aches and pains.
Immodium or Pepto bismol capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea.
Diamox (commonly prescribed as Acetazolamide) 125 or 250mg tablets for altitude sickness. Please discuss with us before starting to take this medicine.
1 small personal sized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as mole skin, band-aids, some waterproof tape, anti-infection ointments, etc. your guides will have more extensive medical gear, but you should have the basics for general use.

Most Necessary Documents/Materials

Passport and extra passport photos (4 copies).
Airline ticket (Please make a copy and leave on at our office in KTM just in case if you need to change the date of your).
Durable wallet / pouch for travel documents, money & passport.
Lip balm. At least SPF 20, 2 sticks. A string taped to the stick is helpful, to hang around your neck and some are now being sold with a cord already attached. Handy as it avoids you from having to stop and look for it.
Sunscreen. SPF 40 is recommended and should be relatively new since it loses its’ effectiveness over time.
Pocket knife or small Swiss Army type.
Water purification Iodine tablets or Polar-pure crystals.
Toiletry kit. Be sure to include toilet paper stored in a plastic bag, hand wipes, and liquid hand sanitizer, towel, soap, etc.
2 bandanas.

Optional

1 pair adjustable trekking poles. Although these are listed as optional, these can be of great assistance to people who may think of themselves and generally clumsy or with bad knees, ankles, etc, especially when going downhill (Optional).
Binoculars (Optional).
Favorite snack foods, no more than 2 pounds (Optional).
Paperback books, cards, mp3 player (there are a couple of stops where you could recharge. Avoid players with moving hardware as it may not function. Remember, keep these items light weight) (Optional).
Hydration bladder with drinking tube and tube insulator (Optional).
A pee bottle for men and pee funnel for woman, some swear by them to avoid that chilly late night trip (Optional).
1 small stainless steel thermos (Optional).
1 light weight point & shoot camera or 1 large SLR. Digital cameras are ok, but you must keep the batteries warm when not in use (Optional).

Please Note: Tight fitting, figure-hugging clothing, such as those made with Lycra can often be offensive to locals, especially to women. If you find these items comfortable as a base layer, please pack something to wear on top of them.
