Khokana is a small, quiet Newari village famous for its traditional lifestyle and mustard oil production. It's approximately eight kilometers south of Kathmandu and only a short drive away. As you explore through its small narrow streets lined with red-brick buildings, you will discover locals living in the same way that their forefathers did for generations. Khokana's peaceful environment and friendly inhabitants make it an ideal site to witness authentic rural life in the Kathmandu Valley. People may also be seen drying chillies, garlic, and grains in open courtyards, showcasing the simplicity and hard labor of country life. The friendly atmosphere here makes every visitor feel welcome and linked to the origins of Nepalese culture.

Bungamati, another neighboring village, is around nine kilometers away from the center of Kathmandu. It is supposed to be the birthplace of Lord Rato Machhindranath, the valley's guardian god. You can explore historic temples, lovely courtyards, and watch local artisans carve wood and make traditional items.
